Ames is about 30 miles North of Des Moines

Driving North or South on I-35

• Take I-35 to Highway 30
  
• Go west on Highway 30 until you come to the Exit for Elwood Dr.
  
• Take Elwood Dr. north until you come to Lincoln Way
  
• Take a left on Lincoln Way
  
• You'll see university dorms, frat houses etc., drive past Knoll Rd. and soon you will see the Iowa State Memorial Union to your right (it has the parking garage)
  
• The Maintenance Shop is at the lower west entrance to the Memorial Union
